Quantum Algorithms Engineer / Quantum Researcher
Qubitera is a Cambridge-based quantum startup developing next-generation quantum computing applications. We work alongside leading hardware quantum companies to develop software that enables practical quantum computation across science, optimisation, and finance.
We're looking for a Quantum Algorithms Engineer or Quantum Researcher to join our small core team.
What the role looks like
- You'll work across the entire product development lifecycle — research, design, coding, and testing.
- You'll collaborate with our team, and our CTO, a world-renowned quantum computing pioneer with deep experience in quantum compilers and systems-level technologies, including the Linux kernel, GCC, and Perl.
- You'll work closely with leading researchers from the University of Cambridge.
- You'll take ownership of entire projects in a fast-moving field with high impact potential.
This is a small, highly motivated team based in central Cambridge. The environment is collaborative, relaxed, and academic — with the freedom to think creatively and work independently. Innovation gets celebrated. Achievements get rewarded.
What we're looking for
- Python coding experience (essential).
- C/C++ experience is a plus (or willingness to learn).
- Experience with quantum algorithms and quantum computing frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, etc.) is desirable.
- A Master's or PhD in Quantum Information is advantageous but not essential.
Why Qubitera
- Founded by a former co-founder and CTO of one of the world's leading quantum computing companies.
- Backed by investors behind Uber, Dropbox, WhatsApp, and Quantinuum.
- Scientific advisory board with Fellows of the Royal Society.
- Seed stage — you'll shape the product, the culture, and the IP from the ground up.
