Oliver Pearce

Oliver is a Quantum Algorithms Researcher at Qubitera, leading research into optimisation algorithms, with a particular focus on financial applications. Having graduated from UCL with an MSci in Astrophysics and Physical Chemistry (Natural Sciences), his Master's research focused on computational modelling and spectroscopy in molecular astrophysics. Throughout his studies, Oliver developed an appreciation for the importance of interdisciplinary thinking, an approach he has carried into his work at Qubitera.

Oliver’s interest in quantum computing stemmed from this same interdisciplinary perspective, drawn to the field’s combination of fundamental physics, maths, and computational problem-solving. At Qubitera, he is particularly interested in applying his technical and analytical background to real-world optimisation problems, and exploring how emerging quantum technologies can move from theoretical ideas to practical applications.

Outside of work Oliver enjoys running, hiking, and leaving the country as much as possible. Other interests include looking up at the night sky and thinking about the eventual heat death of the Universe.
