Internship
Qubitera is offering research internships for exceptional students interested in quantum computing. We're a seed-stage quantum software company based in central Cambridge.
Our founding team built the compiler infrastructure behind one of the world's leading quantum platforms. Now, we're building the next layer: practical quantum applications across science, optimisation, and finance.
What you'd work on (depending on your background)
- Implementing and benchmarking quantum algorithms on real quantum backends.
- Circuit design and optimisation, reducing gate count and noise sensitivity.
- Contributing to applied use cases in financial optimisation, climate simulation, or certifiable quantum randomness.
- Writing and testing code across quantum SDKs (Qiskit, Cirq, Pennylane).
- Supporting the full product development lifecycle from research through to working software.
What we're looking for
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) an MSc or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Comfortable coding in Python (essential).
- Interest in quantum computing — prior experience with quantum frameworks is a plus, but not required.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a preference for building over theorising.
What you'll get
- Direct mentorship from a world-leading quantum computing pioneer and an experienced research team.
- Exposure to production-oriented quantum software, not just paper results.
- Ownership of real work in a small team where your contribution is immediately visible.
- A collaborative, relaxed, and sociable working environment in central Cambridge.
